Effective Music for Pain Management
"We use the
Comfort Series tapes for Pain Management on our Sub-Acute Unit in coordination with our Snoezelen Kaleidoscope. The visual effects and the soothing music help to relax those residents experiencing severe pain from hip replacements, knee replacements and various surgeries, strokes and other serious illnesses. This music also sets a reverent atmosphere around the patient's bed, which causes the nurse's aids to enter the room with more respect and gentleness."
--Diane Mockbee, A.D.C, Past President of Arizona Association of Activity Professionals
Soothing "Lullaby" Music for Patients in Chronic Pain
Diana's tapes really bring comfort and peace to our residents. I have seen them calm down some of our patients experiencing chronic pain. Her music soothes them, and puts them to sleep like a lullaby. Others, who are unhappy with their circumstances, receive comfort from the prayers on her tapes. Her music especially comforts our residents who are terminally ill, and those who cry loudly." -- Cindy Bande, Recreational Services Director, Beverly Health Care, La Mesa, CA
Healing for Those Who Have Given up Speaking
"I have been working with an 80 year old female patient for the last six months. It is my under-standing she has not spoken a word to anyone for at least four years - perhaps longer. She has been gradually withdrawing from people and is somewhat despondent. I have tried everything to get her to speak. I decided to have her listen to
PROTECTING LOVE because I personally liked the birds on it and thought she would also.
When the tape was over, I asked the patient if she liked the tape, and she said "Yes". This was the first word I had ever heard from her - the first word she had spoken in four years! She really enjoyed the tape. I find this tape to be therapeutic and stimulating for my patients." -- Elias Chavez, Activity Director, Holy Cross Medical Center.
Review from National Association of Activity Professionals (NAAP)
"Her music soothed and calmed our residents whose faith has been an important part of their life.
HEAVENLY ASSURANCE is suitable for any level of functioning, from comatose to the highest level, based upon the individual’s prior history. This tape can provide comfort, reassurance, and feelings of peace, especially for those who are seriously ill."
Companionship for the Dying Music Used as Therapy
"I'm writing to you to tell you how much your tapes appeal to the Activity staff, residents and their families. The tapes are played during quiet moments with our residents or during the Companionship for the Dying Program. Our appreciation to you in sharing of your talents for others to enjoy. -- Barbara J. Puterbaugh, ADC, Lutheran Homes of Oconomowoc.
Comfort for Patients who are Distraught
Our facility purchased all seven cassettes. We used one of them for a patient who yells continually, "Help me, help me, I’ll pay you". As soon as we put a tape on, she became quiet. The results were immediate! The music helps her to be peaceful.
We have found that our regular patients enjoy these tapes as well. They are therapeutic for all levels of care. Our staff and residents just love them – they are beautiful. -- William Soltes, Activity Director, Sunbridge Thunderbird Care
Music that works when nothing else will
The music really helps the patients. It seemed to help those – when nothing else works for them. One patient in particular has trouble with anxiety. This music really helps her. In general, the music is very calming for them. The patients accept this more than anything else. - Desert Cove Nursing Center, Scottsdale, AZ.
Sleepless nights and noisy environments"Your music is totally miraculous. When I can't sleep and I forget to play one of your CDs, I get upset with myself, because I nearly always go right to sleep by the 2nd song" - Lois Spain, senior citizen who lives in a very noisy environment.
Note to Activity Directors:
Many Activity Directors use this music with a CD player that has a headset. The patients can be alone with their thoughts while listening to the music, and this also blocks out all other noises. They place clean gauze over the ear pieces with a rubberband each time they offer this to a new patient. It really helps calm the patients down.

Diana was asked to be a guest speaker at the Southern California Association of Activity Professionals in 1997. The theme of her lecture was
PEACEFUL MUSIC THAT MAKES AN ACTIVITY DIRECTOR’S JOB EASIER. She taught activity directors how to bring comfort to the dying, emotionally distraught, fearful or lonely through her music. Many have bought her music at previous conventions, and have had wonderful therapeutic responses for their patients over the years.
Diana is available for lecturing regarding the musical healings she has received from her music. Contact her at 888-544-4545.
